Ipswich in the Carling Cup

Wednesday, 16 June 2010

Finally, the season gets ever-closer and briefly, for Football League fans, the Carling Cup becomes more important than the World Cup with the draw for the first round. And Exeter get Ipswich Town.

Hmmm.

On one hand it's the third season in a row we've drawn Championship opposition at the first stage. On the other, it'll be at St James Park and we get to welcome Roy Keane and his laser-stare. Which will be fun.

In other words, it could be better but should also be fun - a decent chance to test ourselves against a good side, and a chance for Richard Logan and Marcus Stewart to say hello to their old club.

It's hard to say much more about this, but it makes the season seem just a little bit closer. And the fixtures are out tomorrow. Get in.
